Toward an eco-friendly Sapporo, starting with the gateway to the city

Sapporo Station Minamiguchi Energy Center, managed by the Hokkaido Heat Supply Corporation, started supplying energy in 2003, following the redevelopment of JR Sapporo Station.
The natural-gas-fired cogeneration system supplies electricity and steam, it heats water for snow-melting, and it cools water for air conditioning. These benefit businesses, recreation facilities, hotels and the like in the district south of JR Sapporo Station. The center also uses natural energy, such as the cold energy of air and of underground water. It achieves eco-friendly and efficient energy supply.
