How to restart the Intelligent Meter

The Intelligent Meter protects your safety

This Intelligent Meter is for measuring gas use, and it also works as a safety device like an electric circuit breaker.
It stops the gas supply automatically and shows a red flashing light on the following occasions.

Examples of flashing light patterns

Large gas leak

Decrease of gas pressure

Continuous use for a long time*

about 5 sec

Large earthquake

continuously.

If a minute leak continues for more than 30 days, the light flashes as a warning.
(Gas supply is not shut off.)

* This function is not to prevent over-boiling of bath water or over-heating on the cooker. Also, this function is not available for customers who we know use gas
continuously for their house heating systems.

Attention
If you smell gas, do not restart the Intelligent Meter. Instead, immediately open windows for ventilation and contact KITAGAS.
If you can not smell gas, which means there is no gas leak, follow the instructions on how to restart the Intelligent Meter.

How to restart the Intelligent Meter

  1. Turn off all the gas appliances and keep the meter gas cock open.

  2. Turn the cap on the restart button anti-clockwise to take it off.

  3. Press the button fully and take your finger off the button.The button will return to its initial position and the indicator light will flash.Replace the cap.

  4. Wait for approximately three minutes while the Intelligent Meter is checking whether there are any leaks. Gas is ready to be used again when the light turns off.

    * If the light is still flashing after three minutes, go and check to see whether you forgot to switch off any of your gas appliances.

Attention
If you have forgotten to switch off gas appliances, switch them off and repeat the steps from the start.
Contact KITAGAS if all the gas appliances are switched off and the Intelligent Meter does not restart. There might be a gas leak.
