Global warming is a phenomenon in which the amount of heat-retaining greenhouse gases in the atmosphere becomes excessive and causes temperatures to rise. It is known that the progress of global warming will cause a variety of serious problems, such as decreased land area due to higher sea levels, abnormal weather, disasters and food shortages. An effective way of controlling the progress of global warming is to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2). Although the generation of CO2 is unavoidable as we consume energy in our lives, Hokkaido Gas Co., Ltd. is promoting expansion of the use of natural gas, which is a clean energy source with low CO2 emission.
