Otaru Energy Center provides eco-friendly energy in Otaru, a port city.
Otaru Energy Center supplies electricity, heat and cold energy to Wing Bay Otaru (total floor area; 340,000m2), a mixed-use complex of shops, a hotel, restaurants and recreational facilities. A natural-gas-fired cogeneration system (combined-cycle, gas-turbine) realizes heat and electricity efficiency by recapturing exhaust energy. The cogeneration system supplies 80% of the energy demand for Wing Bay Otaru, and it supplies heat to neighboring apartment houses.
